our school day

Parents and carers are asked to ensure that their children arrive promptly for the start of the school day. The gate is opened at 8:30am when children can come onto the playground and the classroom doors open at 8.35am. Our school day ends at 3:15pm.  This amounts to 32.5 hours per week.

Classroom doors are opened at 8:35am and closed at 8:45am. Children should be in classrooms before 8:45am for registration. The school gates are locked at 8:45am to ensure the safety of our pupils. Please make sure that you have left the playground by this time.

Assemblies
Morning assemblies take place in the hall at 10.10am on a Monday and Thursday. On Tuesday and Wednesday the children have assemblies in their classroom. On a Friday we have a Celebration Assembly which takes place from 2:30pm until 3:00pm.

Play time
At 10:30am until 10:45am all children have a mid-morning break.

Lunch
Children in EYFS have their lunch from 12:10pm and Key Stage 1 from 12:15pm. Children in Key Stage 2 have their lunch from 12:20pm. Lunch finishes at 1:15pm.

Drop-off and collection
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are welcome onto the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school. If the arrangement for your child’s collection at home time has to be altered, please let the office know to avoid any confusion or upset. We will not allow a child to leave school with another adult (who is not on their collection list) without prior knowledge. This also includes collection from out of school events, for example the PTA discos.

Any child who is not met by an adult at the end of the school day by 3:25pm, unless a parent has given them permission to walk home alone, will be taken to After School Club.  A charge will be made if they are not collected by 3:30pm and the school office will contact the parents or carers.

Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. We also have bike and scooter racks for the children to use. If you do need to travel by car, please park considerately and safely. No cars should be parked outside the school on the yellow zigzag lines between 8:30am and 9:30am or between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Yellow zig-zag lines outside school indicate the length of road where stopping or waiting is strictly prohibited. These are in place to stop cars from blocking the view of the school entrance, as this would endanger the lives of children wanting to cross the road on their way to and from school.
