our school day

Parents and carers are asked to ensure that their children arrive promptly for the start of the school day. The gate is opened at 8:30am when children can come onto the playground. Our school day ends at 3:15pm.  This amounts to 32.5 hours per week.

Classroom doors are opened at 8:35am for registration and closed at 8:45am. Children should be in classrooms before 8:45am. The school gates are locked at 8:50am to ensure the safety of our pupils. Please make sure you are off the school site by 8:50am.

Assemblies
Morning assemblies take place on a Monday and Thursday at 10:10am. On Tuesday and Wednesday the children have assemblies in their classroom - they include 'Picture News' and 'Wellbeing'. On a Friday we have a Celebration Assembly which takes place from 2:30pm until 3:00pm.

Play time
At 10:30am until 10:45am all children have a mid-morning break.

Lunch
Children in EYFS have their lunch from 12:10pm and Key Stage 1 from 12:15pm. Children in Key Stage 2 have their lunch from 12:20pm. Lunch finishes at 1:15pm.

Drop-off and collection
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are welcome onto the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school. If the arrangement for your child’s collection at home time has to be altered, please let the office know. This avoids any confusion or upset. We will not allow a child to go with another adult (who is not on their collection list) without prior knowledge. This also includes pick-ups from out of school events for example the PTA discos.

Any child who is not met by an adult at the end of the school day by 3:25pm, unless a parent has given them permission to walk home alone, will be taken to After School Club and a charge will be made if your child is not collected by 3:30pm. The office staff will then contact the parents or carers.

Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike and scooter racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park considerately and safely.
